INNOVATION : Perspectives From the Trenches
From start-ups to established tech firms, everyone is talking about innovation. Whether it is introducing an innovative product or encouraging others to use existing products in an innovative way, innovation seems to be a central driver to the tech economy. This panel, moderated by Dr. James L. Parrish, Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at Nova Southeastern University, will examine innovation from a national, regional, and local perspectives and brings together experts in innovation to give us their perspectives on what innovation means to them and to discuss what innovative activities that they are seeing “from the trenches.”

Dr Bradley Jensen is Principal Academic Relationship Manager with Microsoft Corporation. He brings a wealth of extensive relationship, teaching, research, product marketing, sales, and domestic/international executive experience. He has demonstrated capabilities in Curriculum Development, Course Design and Delivery, Research, Consulting, Manufacturing, Document Management, Publishing, Telecommunications, Aerospace, Legal, and Commercial Property Management. Dr Jensen’s proven accomplishments are in: Information Security, Software Development, Project Management, Strategic Alliances, E-Commerce, Strategic Marketing, P & L Management, Team Building and Consultative Selling. He serves on many academic and professional organization Boards of Directors for organizations such as the Association for Computing Machinery, Grambling University College of Business, and the Houston Technology Center to name a few.
Christopher Pyle, President & CEO for Champion Solutions Group, began his career with Champion as a sales representative in 1986. Over the years, Chris has become the driving force behind the organization’s development of key strategic alliances and solution portfolio. Antonio Otalvaro is the Founder of Raw Shorts, a cloud-based video builder for business which launched among the first class of companies at the Venture Hive Accelerator in Miami. He has over a decade of experience working with start ups and in the tech industry and was a co-founder of the Broker WebStation trading platform which was ranked among Barron’s Best Online Brokers for ten consecutive years. As an independent Android publisher he has accumulated over 14.5 million downloads and won the Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute of Design and an alumni of the Art Director’s Club of New York’s Young Guns. His traditional media background includes positions as the Creative Director and Editor for COLORS Magazine as well as a Senior Art Director for the Benetton Communications Think Tank FABRICA based in northern Italy.
Dr. James Parrish has been an Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at Nova Southeastern University since July of 2011. He is actively involved in graduate and PhD student instruction, course development, and the creation of partnerships between industry and academia. Dr. Parrish is also an active academic researcher who has published articles in various journals and has presented at academic and industry conferences in the areas of IT strategy, IT innovation and entrepreneurship, knowledge management, and social engineering.
