Five freshmen put their lessons to work and applied for a $30,000 grant to replace some of theschool’s beat up and out-of-tune instruments. They were awarded Mr. Holland’s Opus grant totaling $38,180 for new instruments at McArthur High School.
The students wrote the grant as part of an innovative pilot program, Linking Education and Employment Outcomes, that focuses on teaching students skills to succeed in the workforce. The program works with 40 students and partners with Broward College and business groups in the community such as Citrix.
“This is a fantastic way to top off a marvelous inaugural year of the LEEO program.” Mr Jackson
