Dr. James Parrish has been an Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at Nova Southeastern University since July of 2011. He is actively involved in graduate and PhD student instruction, course development, and the creation of partnerships between industry and academia. Dr. Parrish is also an active academic researcher who has published articles in various journals and has presented at academic and industry conferences in the areas of IT strategy, IT innovation and entrepreneurship, knowledge management, and social engineering.
Prior to joining Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Parrish was on the faculty of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he was selected to teach classes on IT strategy in the Executive MBA (EMBA) program in the College of Business and for the Technology Innovation program in the College of Engineering and Information Technology. He also has experience in industry as the Systems Manager for Application Development and Support for the Lake County, FL Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts, Convergys, and also as an independent IT Consultant where he was responsible for the creation and management of enterprise IT strategy, the design and development of business applications, and the creation of materials for technology education.
In addition to his involvement with SFTA, Dr. Parrish has been very involved with mentoring student teams in the Microsoft Imagine Cup Software Design Invitational, where his teams have placed 3rd in the U.S. and won awards for cloud computing. He has also been involved with coaching youth sports for the YMCA and other community youth sports leagues.
