I recently posted a write-up about Start-up City:Miami, the great event held in Miami last week. Doug Poretz of Next Horizon Communications just posted a detailed analysis of that event, including the positives and negatives, that everyone interested in the South Florida technology community should read.

He makes the point that there is great energy and excitement in the IT start-up community in Miami but the eco-system surrounding it – the investors, mentors, service people and business leaders – are still very thin on the ground. Unless we build a solid, in-depth community with all those components, and unless that community learns to collaborate better than it has in the past, this explosion of activity and enthusiasm will be just a flash in the pan.
