SFTA and StartUps.club come together to present “Starting Point” which is a new local South Florida meetup group with an initiative to support companies through all levels of their startup ventures.

The meetup had their first “Pitchfest” on Thursday, October 25th at the Dan Marino Foundation in Fort Lauderdale. Five local startups were chosen at random to present their startups to peers and get feedback on their sales pitch, business ideas, and ideas moving forward. Each presenter was given 5 minute to present without any flashcards or added assistance. “No PowerPoint, No slides, ALL PASSION!” At the end all presentations, the audience voted on their favorite startup pitch. There were approximately 50 people in attendance for this first event.

The event also had a special guest, Geoff Haynes, who is a Serial Entrepreneur, President of Raw Power Pro, and Guest Speaker. He also recently spoke at TEDxBocaRaton at Florida Atlantic University about the attribute that entrepreneurs and innovators reply on that can help drive innovation.

It was a real treat to have Geoff attend and share his knowledge and insights with the startups.
